Day 212
Love was felt with every word spoken and every action taken.
Today was Linda's service. It's strange to say, but it was the best memorial service I've ever been to.
The church was standing room only. The stories were heartfelt and ignorant, just as they should have been!
Mr. Rose said something during his eulogy that really stood out to me. He said, "Linda, you were my best friend. You accepted me exactly the way I was and never tried to change me."
In a relationship, that's a huge deal! I often find myself saying, oh he'll change or if I do this he'll do that. Fact is, you need to take people for who they are, not who you want them to be. Very rarely will someone be a different person than who they were when you first met. Embrace it or don't, but don't try to change someone even if you think it's for the better...

Day 209
The heat isn't working in the house, so Brook does what he can to keep warm for his night's sleep. He wears a thick coat and about five layers underneath, with a hat covering the hood that he draws close to his face.
He covers up with a donated blanket and rests his head on a bag where he keeps his belongings. The heat isn't working because he's not paying the bills. In fact, it's not his house -- it's abandoned, and he's not supposed to be there.
With the holidays behind us, so are the frantic appeals from the non-profits for food, clothing and funds to help the homeless. As we return to work and our life routines, we tend to forget the sallow, hollow-eyed faces from the ads. The homeless can be forgotten for another year, or can they?
Be grateful for what you have. Don't feel guilty for what you have, you've earned it and worked hard for it. But always remember to give back to those less fortunate than you because no matter how bleak the situation, someone, somewhere may be wishing they had it as good (or bad) as you...

Juno's first ride in the new car! It will take a few more trips to get used to it but I think she'll like it! One thing I didn't think of was that I no longer have windows that roll down in the back... she will not like that so much but maybe I will get a seatbelt for her and she can sit in the front every once in awhile!

Last day in my Volvo... I'm gonna you 'ol girl! Especially the heated seats! We've been through a lot!
I remember when I got you... My dad walked into my hospital room and told me he got me the perfect car, Penn State navy blue Volvo! I was still high on pain medication and 3 days later my dad was upset because I wasn't excited about the car. Problem was, I didn't even remember him coming to visit me let alone telling me about the car!

Day 198
My new car!!! I feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders! I have no idea how much longer my poor little Volvo was gonna make it! This is a 2007 Honda Element Ex with 15k miles! I love it! I will get it on Wed of next week.
With this being said, I would not have been able to afford such a car without very special people in my life. People that I know if anything happened they would be there! Words can't ever explain my appreciation!

Day 197
Another day home sick...
Starting to get cabin fever so I took the long way to my doctor appt. I love when there is snow on the ground and the sky is REALLY blue and the sun is shining! Everything looks so pretty, crisp, and clean!
There is a funny story behind this photo... I was driving on some back roads and I stopped in the middle of the road, which was fine because there were no other cars. It was too cold to get out of my car so I rolled down the passenger side window and tried to take a pic. I couldn't get it right so I reached for the sunroof... Ummm, HELLO!?!?! Before I could even react, the snow came crashing through the sunroof as I opened it!
Not one of my more intelligent moments...

Day 196
SNOW DAY and/or SICK DAY!
I'm feeling a little better considering from yesterday around 7:30pm until today around 2:30pm I was only awake maybe an hour! Apparently I needed the rest!
I was playing with some new photography apps, one of which is Instagram. I love all the effects you can apply to a pic.
This is Bella, aka Satan's Spawn. I've had a pet I hadn't bonded with until now... it's been a little over a year with no such luck!
Oh well, maybe I'll leave the back door open some day...

Amazing what a girl can do with a drill and some screws...
I am woman, hear me roar!
I've been meaning to get this done for weeks now so I woke up this morning and said, "That's it! This WILL get done today!" About 4 hours later...
I did it! All by myself! Well, mostly... my dad and Sam hung the white strips in the background! I'm pretty sure I coulda done that too!

Day 192
One thing about the holidays is that it is nice to have time to be with family and for family to come home if they've moved away.
My brother Josh and his girlfriend Kelly were home like 3 weekends in a row. It was nice having them home and hanging out at my dad's.
Today, I went over to my dad's to help him and Kay with their new iPhones and to my surprise Josh and Kelly were there! Dad and Kay had made a big breakfast and I showed up just in time to partake!
Growing up, every dinner was interrupted by a big gasp immediately followed by, "Oh, No! I forgot the rolls in the oven!" Sometimes there was smoke. Sometimes we had to scrape the "burnt" off the bottom of the rolls.
This morning was a new one... As we were eating in the dining room I look out into the kitchen and see smoke. I brought it to everyone's attention and once again there was a big gasp but this time it was followed by, "Ahhhh I left the waffles in the waffle maker!!!"
It's always something in the Funk household!

Day 191
I love to cook!
I can follow a recipe but I do need a picture! If I don't have a picture I will be ok but I tend to make it the way I want, which is good I guess. Haven't had a complaint yet!
I especially love cooking for friends and family! When you cook for loved ones, you put a little bit of TLC with every pinch of seasoning!
All the aspects of planning a meal... looking for the perfect recipe, grocery shopping, preparing the meal, then sitting down to enjoy quality time with the ones you love.
Today I did just that and loved every minute of it! (and my lasagna was a hit!)

I don't even like cake all that much and I could NOT resist Grandma's chocolate cake with chocolate icing including a very thin layer of peanut butter icing in the middle! DELICIOUS!!!
