Sometimes I just want to say... you choose!
Wouldn't it be great if there was a random location option!
Where do you wish your GPS would take you?
About Project 365
I have decided to get back into my photography. I have boycotted my hobby for awhile because I miss the meditating atmosphere of a dark room. (Maybe I just miss the fumes!?!?) When I went to school I can remember spending very long evenings in the dark room and having a sense of accomplishment and creativity! Since I have made the switch to digital photography, I rarely edit the photos I take. With this project I will have different types of photos. All photos will be taken with my iPhone and will not be edited. Some will be normal everyday pics and some artistic in nature, but all will be a little part of my day. Everyday for a year! Here's to going out and finding the creativity again...

Day 61
“Teachers teach more by what they are than by what they say.”
“More important than the curriculum is the question of the methods of teaching and the spirit in which the teaching is given”
“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.”
Today during professional development, we were assigned to different classrooms in our 2 high schools. One thing I don't like about secondary schools is the lack of "fun" when you enter the classroom. The white walls are mind numbing!!!
However, today I walked into a reading classroom in the high school and I felt like I was walking into a 5th grade classroom! There were posters on the walls of reading strategies and reading workshop rules. There were books everywhere, organized in colorful bins and a big planet with vines in and out of the book bins! You walked into the room and you just knew this was a teacher that LOVES her job! More importantly, she LOVES her students! The room was so inviting!
Every wall was covered with home made posters and the white institutional feeling was not even remotely present. To top it all off... there were posters on the ceiling! What a great, different way to grab the students' attentions!
I wanted to be in this classroom!
There was one rule in particular that I thought really summed it up...
READ WELL. READ A LOT. READ WHAT YOU LOVE.

Day 60
How did I spend my last day of summer? I did whatever I wanted! I got iced coffee twice today! I got my nails done! Took Juno to the dog park for 2 hours! We had a blast and she played her heart out! We came home took a nap, watched a movie, played a little Wii, etc. Spent the evening playing with our favorite 6-yr-old blonde friend and black cat. Topped off by ear rubs from a special guy... All in all, I, and Juno, had a great last day of summer!

Day 59
This blog post is brought to you by the letter "P"
Procrastination - Waited until until the last moment to post and then fell asleep without posting... opps, this one is a little late.
Philadelphia Phillies (2pts) - need to get their act together. The talent that we started the season with has failed!
Philadelphia Eagles - Definitely expecting a losing season... but hey at least I might have a better chance to get tickets!
Pittsburgh Penguins (2pts) - A new team I will be following... Hopefully the western part of the state will bring some pride back to Pennsylvania. Clearly the eastern side is having issues.
Pittsburgh Steelers - A team I will never follow!
Photography - Reconnecting with my lost love... going to see about a big girl camera very soon! :0)
Painting - Was in and out of shops in Downtown Lancaster yesterday and kept noticing the paintings for sale by local artists. Maybe I will get back into painting as well.
Principal - Hmmmmm, do I really want this still? Is it possible to be the principal I want to be amongst all the crap that goes along with the job?
Persistence - I need to keep going in my wellness/fitness goals. It is soooo easy to get off track! Most people say they lose weight in the summer and gain in the winter. I'm the opposite... in the summer I'm not on a schedule and I do as I please, eat as I please, and think I have all the time in the world to workout. In the winter, I have a tight schedule, I plan my meals, I plan time to workout, and I stick to the schedule.
People watching - Yesterday was a wonderful day in Lancaster City. There were people everywhere! It is so interesting to watch and observe people. I could sit for hours and do just that!
Projects - I have soooooooo many projects I want to accomplish at home and at school!
Posting - Took a look back at my almost 60 blog posts and realize I may have begun my own kind of therapy...

Day 58
Is there anything retail therapy can't fix?
Why is it that on the worst days a trip to the mall immediately lifts my spirits?
I decided to google retail therapy and didn't really like what I read. Apparently I have some deep seeded problem that I am dealing with via shopping.
That may be true however nothing feels as good as buying over $100 worth of clothing and only paying about $53 due to sales and coupons!!! And no, I don't regret the purchases and no, the high does not go away! i relish in every purchase I make and admire my purchases for days, months, even years to come...
(Maybe this is even worse than retail therapy!?!?!?)

Day 57
It's the end of August...
Labor Day is nearing...
The corn harvest is at it's peak...
In my childhood days this could only mean one thing...
FUNKY FARM CORN ROAST!
It was a tradition like no other. 300-400 people at my house every labor day weekend since I could remember! This was no ordinary picnic. Lots of things happened at that picnic... my first taste of beer, my first drag of a cig, my first kiss...
If you were lucky enough to experience this you may remember the following...
Hot air balloon rides
The infamous raffle
Picnic table crew
Long tables of food
McDonald's orange drink
Grill crew
The announcements from the balcony
All the kittens
The fire pit
Roasting marshmallows
and so on and so on...
What was your favorite memory at the corn roast?

Day 56
Being a homeowner has it's ups and downs.
Today was a down.
As I get ready to bring in a roommate I was frantically going from thing to another only to add 5 more things to my list with every new project! I decided to stop and just survey the entire house to see what needs done.
Here we go:
Lawn needs mowed
Weeds need pulled
Need to weed whack around the edges of yard, walkway, driveway, etc.
Deck really needs stained/weather treatment
Little corner of my shed needs to be reattached
The waffle fence on my deck needs reattached
Downstairs toilet needs fixed
Need to fix or purchase a dishwasher
Low levels of radon in basement, I really should get that taken care of
I need a larger humidifier in the basement
I'm afraid to open the front closet...
Honestly, that's the short list. I published the list so maybe I will hold myself accountable for completing everything. Not so sure it's gonna happen...Maybe I should enlist in some help, OH DADDY... :0)
